Gives a specific patient population direct, expert nursing care in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Helps doctors with tests and treatments and sets up equipment. Assesses both new and current patients to ascertain treatment priorities, appropriateness, and/or need for adjustments. Applies sterile dressings, gives out prescription drugs, and keeps an eye on vital signs. Preserves patient record confidentiality. May carry out specific nursing tasks pertaining to the particular requirements of a given patient group. May supervise and direct the activities of additional support and nursing personnel. Carries out various job-related tasks as delegated.
