Role Overview: We are seeking a seasoned designer who shares a deep passion for both the craft of writing and design, and is eager to combine these passions by contributing to the development of a top-tier AI-augmented writing tool. As the lead designer for our new editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping its functionality, aesthetics, and core features. Your responsibilities will include leading intricate design projects, conducting UX research, and creating sophisticated designs that enhance the writing experience for our users. Responsibilities: - Lead the design process of a sophisticated writing tool from concept to implementation, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and refinement in every user interaction. - Demonstrate design mastery, showcasing an exceptional eye for detail and nuance in UI design. - Ensure that our products not only perform well but also bring joy to users. - Collaborate with UX research to guide design choices and advocate for the user throughout the design journey. - Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, engineers, and writers, to develop cohesive and innovative design solutions. - Challenge the conventional boundaries of writing tools by experimenting with novel ideas and approaches that enhance the writing process. - Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the design team. Ideal Candidate: - Possesses professional training and a degree in UX or Product Design. - Has a minimum of 8 years of experience in a product design role, with at least four years serving as a lead designer. - Demonstrates a genuine passion for writing. - Proficient in prototyping. - Skilled in designing tools for web/desktop as well as mobile platforms. - A thoughtful and dedicated collaborator. - Experience in front-end development is highly advantageous. - Displays a profound interest in the intersection of technology and creativity, aiming to empower individuals rather than replace them. - Exhibits a strong command of written and spoken English. - Bonus: Fluency in either German or Dutch.
