STAFF, DATA SCIENTIST

As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart's Global Tech Enterprise Business Services, your role involves collaborating with a team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers to design, architect, build, deploy, operate, and optimize AI/ML models and systems. You will work in an Agile practice in a highly collaborative environment, designing end-to-end system architecture for GenAI/AI/ML and data-intensive applications. Your responsibilities also include mentoring a team of data scientists, developing production-grade real-time/batch machine learning services, and working with product managers to design user journeys and analyze user telemetry. Additionally, you will identify AI/ML use-cases to improve business processes and uphold robust work standards to build trustworthy AI/ML solutions. Your role will involve collaborating with applied researchers and data scientists to enhance ML models and refine MLOps practices. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, architect, build, and optimize AI/ML models and systems - Design end-to-end system architecture for GenAI/AI/ML and data-intensive applications - Mentor team members to develop their skills and business understanding - Develop and deploy production-grade real-time/batch machine learning services - Collaborate with product managers to design user journeys and analyze user telemetry - Identify AI/ML use-cases to improve business processes and develop MVPs/POCs - Uphold robust work standards to build trustworthy AI/ML solutions - Collaborate with researchers to enhance ML models and refine MLOps practices Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, statistics, economics, mathematics, or related area - 9+ years of experience in design, development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable GenAI/AI/ML products and applications - Industry experience in production-grade AI/ML system development - Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc. - Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI systems - Strong background in statistical modeling, time series forecasting, and optimization techniques - Experience in building end-to-end ML pipelines and deploying ML models in production - Ability to mentor junior data scientists and communicate research progress effectively - Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and version control - Proven track record of collaboration, openness, and clear communication By joining Walmart's Global Tech Enterprise Business Services, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions can impact millions of people.
