Roles and Responsibilities: Experience of 5+ yrs as SQL DBA Database Administration: • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. • Install SSRS reporting services and configure scale-out deployment. • Manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, such as Always on High Availability Groups and failover clustering. • Manage database storage, perform database backup and recovery operations to ensure data integrity. • Conduct regular database maintenance activities such as indexing, statistics updates, reorganization, rebuilding. • Monitor and optimize database performance, including troubleshooting and resolving bottlenecks using Query Store and DMVs. • Monitor and tune database performance to ensure efficient query execution and maintain 99% uptime. • Implement database security measures, including access control, encryption, and auditing, to protect sensitive data. • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and organizational security policies. • Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline routine database administration tasks, deployments, and monitoring. • Collaborate with system administrators and IT teams to ensure smooth integration of databases with infrastructure and network components. • Automate repetitive database administration tasks using PowerShell or SQL scripts. • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a production environment. • Strong documentation habits and communication across technical and non-technical teams. • Mentoring junior DBAs or participating in knowledge-sharing sessions. • Suggest changes and improvements for management, maintenance and securing databases • Explore new database tools and stay apprised about emerging technologies and trends • "Experience with database health monitoring tools like SolarWinds SQL Sentry, or custom alerting via PowerShell/email integrations is a plus." • Comfortable for 24 x 7 support as needed. • Familiarity with version control (Git) for database scripts. SQL Server Upgrades and Patching: • Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades, including in-place upgrades and side-by-side migrations. • Evaluate and apply service packs, cumulative updates, and security patches to SQL Server instances. • Conduct compatibility testing of databases and applications during upgrade cycles. SSIS and SSAS Administration: • Develop, deploy, and monitor SSIS packages for ETL processes. • Maintain and optimize SSAS cubes for reporting and analytics requirements. • Collaborate with developers to ensure SSIS/SSAS solutions align with business needs. AWS Cloud Integration: • Deploy and manage SQL Server databases in AWS cloud environments (e.g., RDS, EC2). • Utilize AWS tools such as CloudWatch, IAM, and S3 for database management and backup. • Design and implement disaster recovery and high availability solutions in AWS. • Migrate on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS using tools like AWS DMS or native SQL Server methods. Security and Compliance: • Implement database security best practices, including user roles, permissions, and encryption. • Conduct periodic security audits and remediate vulnerabilities. • Ensure databases comply with organizational and regulatory requirements. Latest SQL Server Features Implementation: • Utilize new SQL Server features, such as Intelligent Query Processing, Accelerated Database Recovery, and In-Memory OLTP, to enhance database performance. • Explore and integrate SQL Server Machine Learning Services for advanced analytics. • Stay updated on Microsoft SQL Server updates and implement recommended practices. • Participate in regular on-call rotations for database support. Requirements 5+ years of experience as an MSSQL DBA, with expertise in SQL Server 2019, and 2022. Proven experience in database upgrades, migrations, and cloud integration (Azure and AWS preferred). Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell scripting, and performance tuning. Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking concepts. AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate) is a plus. PL SQL and My SQL knowledge considered as plus.
