A Parent Relations Officer in a school is responsible for maintaining a positive and supportive relationship between the school and parents. Their main role is to communicate important information, address parents’ questions or concerns, and ensure that parents feel connected and informed about their child’s education. Parent Communication & Support Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians. Communicate school policies, activities, progress reports, and initiatives clearly. Respond to parent inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally. Facilitate positive relationships between parents and staff. 2. Engagement & Community Building Organise parent meetings, workshops, and engagement events. Support parent involvement in school activities, committees, and governance. Encourage strong home–school partnerships that promote student well-being and achievement. 3. Student Welfare Support Work closely with teachers, counselling teams, and administrators to support students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Assist in identifying families needing additional support and coordinate with external agencies when necessary. 4. Administration & Record-Keeping Maintain accurate records of parent interactions, events, and cases. Prepare reports on parent engagement, attendance, and issues raised. Support enrolment processes and orientation programs for new parents and students. 5. Conflict Resolution & Mediation Help resolve concerns between parents and the school through empathetic communication. Mediate discussions to ensure fair and constructive outcomes. 6. Promotion & Outreach Support marketing and outreach initiatives to maintain a positive public image. Assist with newsletters, social media updates, and community awareness campaigns.
