Job Title: Quality Engineer (Fabrication Industry) Job Description: Overview: As a Quality Engineer in the Fabrication industry, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of fabricated products through the implementation of quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Your role will involve working closely with production teams to ensure adherence to quality standards, troubleshooting quality issues, and implementing corrective actions to drive process improvement. Key Responsibilities: Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control procedures and inspection protocols for fabricated products. Conduct regular inspections and audits of fabrication processes to identify defects, deviations, and non-conformities. Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues in real-time and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Perform root cause analysis to determine the underlying causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Process Improvement: Analyse production processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement and cost reduction. Implement process optimization initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of fabrication operations. Utilize quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to drive continuous improvement. Work with cross-functional teams to address quality-related challenges and implement sustainable solutions. Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with procurement and Purchase teams to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components. Establish quality requirements for suppliers and conduct supplier audits and assessments to verify compliance. Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Quality Assurance Documentation: Develop and maintain quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records. Ensure that all quality-related documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders. Participate in internal and external quality audits to demonstrate compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. Training and Education: Provide training and support to production personnel on quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and quality standards. Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization through training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns. Mentor and coach team members on quality-related topics, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability for quality excellence. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma in engineering, preferably in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering. Previous experience in a quality engineering role within the fabrication industry or a related field. Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, machining, forming, and assembly. Proficiency in quality management systems and tools, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and Quality Management Software (QMS). Experience with quality control techniques, including inspection methods, root cause analysis, and corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) processes. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and implement effective solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate quality requirements to internal and external stakeholders. Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt are a plus.
