Sr. Python Developer

Codebase is a young software services company with a great pool of tech-savvy developers. We started in the spring of 2018, and have been growing aggressively. We are located in Pune, India, and serve software product companies across the globe; focusing on enterprise SaaS, eCommerce, cloud, and application development.We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations. This role requires strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, and a solid understanding of various AWS services.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture and development
• Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing and developing scalable and secure RESTful APIs using FastAPI
• Ensuring strong authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices
• Deploying and managing the application on AWS (including DNS setup, environment configuration, etc.)
• Writing clean, testable code and maintaining comprehensive documentation
• Design relational database schemas and write efficient queries using PostgreSQL or MySQL (we prefer PostgreSQL)
• Collaborating with the stakeholders and providing support during integration
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Python
• Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI and modern Python async practices
• Expertise in PostgreSQL (or MySQL) including schema design, indexing, and performance optimisation
• Deep understanding of security best practices, user authentication, RBAC, and 2FA integrations
• Proven deployment experience on AWS (EC2, RDS, Route53, IAM)
• Ability to configure and manage complete production environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a self-motivated, independent work ethic
• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Nice to have
• Familiarity with MQTT protocol and IoT device communications
• Experience with background job tools (e.g., Celery, FastAPI background tasks)
• Comfort using AI tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to boost productivity
• Awareness of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
