Job Title: SQL Database Administrator Location: Noida Job Type: Full-time | Permanent | Reporting To: IT Manager/Supervisor Department: IT Experience Required: 5+ years Work Schedule: 24x7 support coverage (rotation-based or on-call) Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain mission-critical SQL Server databases across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database performance, security, backups, and availability, ensuring smooth operations for all business applications. Key Responsibilities: Administer, monitor, and support SQL Server environments (SQL 2016/2019/2020). Ensure high availability using SQL Always On Availability Groups and other HA solutions. Perform regular database maintenance, including patches, upgrades, backups, and performance tuning. Design and implement database solutions that align with business requirements and IT standards. Manage deployments and changes for code and ETL processes following the change control process. Troubleshoot issues and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence. Create and maintain technical documentation for database architecture and procedures. Collaborate with business users to understand needs and deliver database solutions accordingly. Provide support for SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI environments. Monitor system capacity and plan for future growth. Ensure database security policies are followed. Required Skills and Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL DBA in a 24x7 production environment. Strong experience with: Backup/recovery strategies and tools. Performance tuning and optimization. SQL scripting and automation. SSIS, SSRS, Power BI support. SQL Server on Windows. Experience with database tools such as Spotlight and SolarWinds. Knowledge of managing SQL Server on virtualized environments, especially Azure (minimum 1 year). Solid understanding of database security practices and compliance. Familiarity with SDLC processes (preferred). Key Competencies: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Job Purpose/ Summary NCR Atleos is seeking a MS SQL DBA with Azure SQL experience who will provide an expert level support for highly available SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will be articulate and approachable and have practical/working knowledge of clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication, and Always On availability groups as methods used to meet business needs. The ideal candidate must also be able to troubleshoot time sensitive production issues in a timely manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Experience working in large Azure environments, spanning multiple accounts/subscriptions, availability zones, and regions. Exposure to Azure IaaS & PaaS Services, experience in migration of workloads to cloud and understanding of Azure native services and disk pooling. Experience in managing SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014 ,2016 and 2019 as well as sun setting older databases/versions. Experience to configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication mirroring and log shipping issues, connectivity issues etc. Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using SQL Server monitoring utilities such as Spotlight (preferred), Redgate, IDERA or SolarWinds SentryOne. Ability to detect/ troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. Good Experience in backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands. Experience with Always On design, Availability groups, replication, log shipping, mirroring and storage replication technologies Experience in indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system procs) Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. Experience with designing DR plans while satisfying SLA requirements and conducting Disaster recovery tests. Designing/Recommending database alerts for monitoring database availability and performance. Ability to work with internal and external auditors on PCI compliance audits. Ability to accurately monitor environments, resolve issues, and plan capacity improvements. Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. Experience Minimum 10+ years of experience as MS SQL database administrator. Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2019 required. Experience with Azure SQL in a multi-region configuration Expertise Microsoft SQL Server on VM, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL. Success criteria and performance measures Demonstrates collaboration with multiple teams for successful solutions. Adheres to standards and guidelines. Continually monitors creative product to ensure it conforms to the existing environments. Flexible work hours and provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
