As a French Language Teacher at our institution, your primary responsibility will be to instruct IGCSE students (Grades 9-11) in French language and literature. This entails developing and executing lesson plans that align with the IGCSE French syllabus (0520/0716), conducting assessments, providing feedback, and monitoring student progress. Additionally, you will prepare students for IGCSE French exams and collaborate with fellow educators to integrate French across various subjects. Your role also involves creating and administering tests, quizzes, and exams, maintaining accurate records, and engaging with parents through regular updates and progress reports. Staying informed about IGCSE curriculum changes and implementing best teaching practices are essential aspects of this position. To qualify for this role, you must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in French Language and Literature or a related field, along with a teaching certification (B.Ed./M.Ed.) or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching IGCSE French is required, and you should possess proficiency in spoken and written French at CEFR B2/C1 level. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs. Desirable qualities include familiarity with the IGCSE curriculum and assessment, experience with educational technology, training in child-centered pedagogy or constructivist approaches, certification in French teaching (e.g., DELF, DALF), and knowledge of other languages such as English and Hindi. In terms of IGCSE French syllabus knowledge, you should demonstrate an understanding of the syllabus (0520/0716), be familiar with the exam format and assessment criteria, and be capable of teaching both language and literature components. Furthermore, as part of the additional responsibilities, you may have the opportunity to lead language clubs or cultural events, develop language exchange programs, and collaborate with other language teachers.
