Splicer Assist in cable splicing: Support the splicing of fiber optic or copper cables under the supervision of a lead technician. Prepare cables and splice enclosures: Strip, clean, and prepare cables for splicing, including organizing fiber strands or wire pairs. Operate and maintain tools: Use and maintain splicing tools, fusion splicers, OTDRs (optical time-domain reflectometers), and hand tools. Documentation: Help maintain detailed records of splice locations, test results, and installation logs. Site preparation and cleanup: Assist in setting up work sites, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and cleaning up after jobs. Testing and troubleshooting: Help test spliced cables to verify performance and assist with troubleshooting faults. Skills & Qualifications: Basic understanding of telecommunications or electrical systems. Willingness to work outdoors and in confined spaces. Ability to handle and work with small, delicate wires or fibers. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Physically fit and comfortable with potentially strenuous tasks.
