Technology Service Specialist, AVP Position Overview Job Title: Technology Service Specialist, AVP Location: Bangalore, India Role Description Investigate, architect, design and recommend backup and recovery solutions that leverage DB standards, with a strong focus on cyber security and cyber resiliency Our team is diverse, international, and driven by shared focus on valued delivery. You will bring an innovative approach and work alongside the Storage Team as Technology Service Specialist under Storage Team within Deutsche Bank. As a Technology Service Specialist , you will be focused on the engineering, investigating, architecting, designing and recommending the backup Cyber Recovery Process. You will be the Subject Matter Expert and drive Cyber Resiliency and Data Protection Service, meeting and exceeding defined service levels in delivering backup and recovery services to our banking sector client. Your key responsibilities will include addressing escalated backup infrastructure investigations, mentoring and guiding more junior colleagues and contributing significantly to the systematic improvement of the environment. You will also be involved in developing and defining life cycle activities such as hardware and software refreshes to maintain the environment at target levels. You will also be involved in migration activities as necessary to support an exciting program of change, implementing new backup technologies and infrastructure components, developing content to support automation of backup workflows, and serving as an escalation point on and off shift to other members of the team. Maintaining diligence around ITSM process and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures are paramount in this role. Where new Data Protection technologies are introduced, you will be expected to actively participate and lead engineering activities related to the onboarding of these new technologies, including working closely with other technology teams within the organization. You will work as the subject matter expert and architect, drive the Cyber Resilience and Data Protection solution The candidate will work with highly skilled, highly motivated engineers using Agile methodologies based on Scrum or Kanban, and incorporating enterprise agile practices from Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Subject matter expert for Backup Cyber Recovery processes globally Investigate, architect, design and recommend backup and recovery solutions with a strong focus on cyber security and cyber resiliency Participate as an advisor and liaison in transformation governance and strategic change initiatives. Disaster Recovery and Cyber Threats Preparedness: Enhance backup strategies to address disaster recovery scenarios, including ransomware attacks. Adopt immutable backup capabilities and air-gapped storage strategies to protect backup data. Identify, Define, Communicate, and implement Improvement Plans, to ensure and maintain the robustness (availability, reliability, efficiency, performance) of our infrastructures around the globe Provide technical expertise and leadership to backup and cyber security teams globally to ensure completeness and robustness of our infrastructures Build and deploy backup infrastructure, including managing backup repositories. Demonstrate exceptional troubleshooting skills for backup, tape, and storage issues. Proficiently manage critical issues within the backup infrastructure, liaising across multiple technical towers as appropriate. Providing engineering solutions to solve new and existing operational challenges. Work independently and actively coach and develop peers, as well as participate in on-call rotations as required. Drive appropriate engagement and response from key vendors to ensure service levels for this environment. Adhere to established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management. Utilize automation tools for efficient backup processes Governance and Compliance Enforcement: Develop backup standards and best practices to ensure adherence to industry standards, security regulations, and compliance requirements. Establish auditing mechanisms for backup performance and data protection policies. Collaboration with Platform and Application Teams: Work with platform and application teams to address backup-related gaps. Implement backup solutions tailored to specific workloads and provide technical guidance on best practices and data retention policies. Your skills and experience Cross-technology experience and confidence, particularly in networking, OS and cryptographic security. Experience in managing critical backup infrastructure at scale In-depth understanding of modern Data Protection and Cyber Resilience principles and how they are implemented within a technology stack. Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University or 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 10 years of experience in TSM administration. Preferred 4 years of experience in Cobalt Iron administration. Minimum 10 years of experience in backup and recovery operations Experience in Mass Restore & Recovery at large scale In-depth understanding of backup technologies (not limited to) Spectrum Protect, Cobalt Iron, Cohesity, Rubrik, Azure Backup, AWS Backup, Google DR backup Data Protector in large scale dispersed environments Previous experience in backup monitoring implementation at large scale in a multi backup tools context using Brocade, Splunk, and ServiceNow Practical experience in Automation to reduce the burden on operations using Ansible Terraform for backup incident creation and resolution, and provisioning requests Administer Spectrum Protect and Cobalt Iron in a mixed environment of Unix, Linux and Windows servers Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, including the use of scripting languages to administer these operating systems. Team Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backup administrators/engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) Expertise & Operations: Serve as the highest escalation point for complex issues, performance bottlenecks, and failures within the IBM Spectrum Protect/TSM environment. Oversee the daily operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all IBM Spectrum Protect servers, clients, storage pools (disk, tape, cloud), and databases (DB2). Manage and optimize backup policies, schedules, retention periods, and data deduplication strategies. Perform advanced configuration, tuning, and optimization of IBM Spectrum Protect components for optimal performance and resource utilization. Required Skills and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on enterprise backup and recovery. Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on, expert-level experience with IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), including design, implementation, administration, and troubleshooting in large, complex environments. At least 3+ years in a lead or senior technical role, with experience leading or mentoring a team.
