Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide specialized support and interventions for students with diverse learning needs (including learning disabilities, developmental delays, behavioral challenges, sensory and motor difficulties, and other special educational needs) from Nursery to Grade 10. The SEN Teacher will ensure inclusive education by developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), adapting teaching strategies, and collaborating with classroom teachers, occupational therapists (OTs), and parents to help students achieve academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Role

- Identify, assess, and support students with special learning, sensory, or behavioral needs.
- Design and implement tailored learning plans (IEPs) aligned with curriculum goals. - Collaborate with class teachers, parents, and occupational therapists to promote inclusive practices. - Support students emotional, behavioral, sensory, and academic development to help them thrive in mainstream classrooms.

Responsibilities

1. Student Assessment & Individualized Support
- Screen and assess students referred for learning, sensory, or behavioral concerns. - Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs based on student needs. - Track and document progress, making adjustments as needed.

2. Classroom & Therapeutic Support
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs. - Coordinate with occupational therapists to integrate sensory and motor skill interventions. - Provide small-group or one-on-one interventions to reinforce key skills. - Support teachers in differentiating classroom instruction and managing inclusive settings.

3. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with class teachers, OTs, school counselors, and parents to address student needs. - Conduct regular meetings to review student progress and provide guidance to parents. - Coordinate with external therapists and specialists when necessary.

4. Student Well-being & Behavioral Support
- Implement behavioral strategies and sensory integration techniques with OT support. - Support students in building confidence, self-regulation, and peer relationships. - Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment.

5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed student records, progress reports, and intervention logs. - Share updates with school leadership and stakeholders as per institutional policies.

- Empathy, patience, and a strong understanding of diverse learning and sensory needs. - Ability to design and execute IEPs effectively. - Strong collaboration and communication skills with parents, teachers, and therapists. - Knowledge of inclusive education practices, classroom management, sensory integration, and behavioral support strategies.

Qualification & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (B.Ed. in Special Education) or equivalent certification.
- Additional certifications in Learning Disabilities, Autism, ADHD, or Sensory Integration preferred. - Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Special Educator in a school environment
