Job Overview: We are seeking a creative and experienced Senior Space Designer to join our dynamic design team. In this role, you will take ownership of complex and high-profile design projects, collaborating closely with designers, architects, and project teams to conceptualize and deliver innovative, functional, and aesthetically compelling spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing their ability to blend creative vision with practical design solutions, delivering exceptional results on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage space design projects from concept to completion, ensuring a seamless integration of creative vision and functional needs. Collaborate with designers, architects, engineers, and contractors to define project scope, goals, and requirements. Develop detailed space planning layouts, 3D visualizations, material selections, and color schemes, ensuring design solutions are tailored to the clients needs. Create and present design concepts, mood boards, and presentations to clients, explaining design choices and how they meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of the space. Maintain a deep understanding of design trends, materials, and technologies to ensure cutting-edge and sustainable design solutions. Oversee the selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), ensuring all elements align with the design vision. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior designers, guiding them in design execution and professional development. Work closely with project managers to establish and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resources. Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring quality control and timely delivery. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design integrity is maintained throughout the construction and implementation phases. Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations in the design process. Conduct site visits to assess and monitor design progress, making adjustments as necessary. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., NCIDQ, LEED) is a plus. Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in space design or a similar field, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in commercial, residential, or specialized environments. Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rev-it, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction processes. Proven ability to lead design projects and teams, with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members. A strong understanding of spatial functionality, retail spaces, exhibits, human-centred design, and user experience (UX). A passion for innovative design, sustainability, and problem-solving. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-end residential, corporate office, retail, or hospitality design. Knowledge of sustainable design principles and green building standards. Experience with budget management and client relationship management.
