Job Title: Library Specialist Intern Location: Gurugram, HR Duration: 1 Year Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Library Specialist Intern to support our library operations. The role involves hands-on work in cataloguing, classification, digitalization, and automation of library resources. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates in Library and Information Science looking to gain practical experience in a professional library environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the classification and cataloguing of books and other library materials using standard classification systems (DDC, UDC, etc.). Support the digitalization of library content, including scanning, metadata tagging, and archiving. Help with library automation activities, including data entry and system updates in Integrated Library Management Systems (ILMS). Maintain accurate records of library holdings, acquisitions, and user circulation. Participate in content organization, indexing, and metadata enrichment for both physical and digital resources. Provide support in conducting inventory, shelf management, and maintaining catalog accuracy. Assist users in locating materials and using library resources, both digital and print. Required Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science (BLIS/B.Lib.I.Sc.) or Masters Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS/M.Lib.I.Sc.) Key Skills & Competencies: Good understanding of library classification systems and cataloguing rules (AACR2, RDA, MARC21, etc.). Familiarity with library automation software (e.g., Koha, SOUL, etc.). Basic knowledge of digital library tools and metadata standards. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Good communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in MS Office and basic IT skills.
