As a Lead Software Engineer at Barclays, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues. Your role will involve automation using Python, Ansible, Django, PostgreSQL, REST API development, API integration, and microservices architecture with Openshift for containerization. You should have advanced knowledge of GIT, Jenkins, and other DevOps tools, as well as experience automating network devices such as NSX, Routers, Switches, load balancers, firewalls, DDI, Security, etc. To be successful in this role, you should have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Telecommunication Networks. Additionally, you will work closely with stakeholders and Product management to assist in creating and maintaining the technical strategy and roadmap for Automation use cases. Key skills highly valued for this role include experience with monitoring/collector protocols, CMDB platforms, Enterprise level network management platforms, IPAM and SoR tools, operating in a Scrum/Agile/SDLC environment, and working knowledge of Linux systems. Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering high-quality software solutions, collaborating with product managers and engineers, promoting code quality and knowledge sharing, staying informed of industry technology trends, adhering to secure coding practices, and implementing effective unit testing practices. Depending on the level of leadership responsibilities, you may contribute to setting strategy, driving requirements, managing resources and budgets, delivering continuous improvements, and demonstrating clear leadership behaviours. As an individual contributor, you will be a subject matter expert guiding technical direction and leading collaborative assignments.
