Sonography typist

A sonography typist, or ultrasound typist, transcribes dictated or handwritten ultrasound scan findings into accurate, formatted medical reports, ensures correct patient information and medical terminology, and may assist with data entry, record management, and patient coordination like providing pre-scan instructions. This role requires strong typing skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with medical terminology to support radiologists and other healthcare professionals in patient care and documentation. Key Responsibilities Transcription: Accurately type dictated or written ultrasound scan results into a clear, formatted medical report. Medical Terminology: Ensure correct spelling and consistent use of medical terms relevant to sonography. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information and scan findings. Data Entry & Record Keeping: May handle data entry and organize patient records and imaging data. Patient Interaction: Provide patients with pre-scan instructions and manage sensitive cases. Quality Assurance: Review reports for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and proper report structure. Collaboration: Work closely with sonographers, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate reporting. Required Skills Typing Speed and Accuracy: Fast and accurate typing skills are essential. Medical Terminology: Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and report structures is crucial. Computer Proficiency: Experience with computers and data management systems. Attention to Detail: Critical for ensuring accuracy in patient information and report content.
