Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Individual Contributor to join our team in Chennai. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our cutting-edge Network Operating System (NOS), from initial bring-up on new hardware platforms to the development and sustenance of advanced networking features. You will be a hands-on technical expert, working on the core of our networking stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, robust, and scalable solutions for our customers. Detailed Description . Platform Bring-up & System Features: Lead the bring-up of our NOS on new hardware platforms, including the development and integration of Linux device drivers. Ensure system-level features such as High Availability (HA) and Stacking are robust and performant. . NOS Development & Sustenance: Design, develop, and maintain software for our NOS, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. This includes troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in the field. . Network Stack Development: Drive the development of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols. That may need expertise in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, as well as other key technologies like MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here) . Management & Control Plane: Implement and sustain management interfaces and protocols, including SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, CLI, gNMI, and gRPC, to enable seamless integration with network management systems. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here) . ASIC/NPU Integration: Leverage your strong experience with Broadcom's XGS/DNX family of devices to develop and optimize software for high-performance packet forwarding. Experience with Marvell's Innovium/Prestera family is a plus. . Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other engineering teams, QA, and customer-facing teams to ensure the successful delivery and deployment of our products. Knowledge/Skills/Competencies . Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an Individual Contributor in a networking domain. . Programming Languages: Rich, hands-on experience with C, C++, Python, and GoLang. . Networking Expertise: o In-depth knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP). o Proven experience with MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS. . Management Protocols: Strong understanding and practical experience with network management protocols and APIs (SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, gNMI, gRPC). . ASICs: Solid working experience with network processor units (NPUs) from Broadcom (XGS/DNX family). . NOS Experience: Prior experience in Network Operating System (NOS) development or sustenance is essential. Experience with SONiC NOS is a significant advantage. . Soft Skills: o Excellent inter-working and collaboration skills. o Strong written and verbal communication. o Ability to work effectively with multiple functional teams and customer-facing organizations. Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Software Engineer with deep expertise in SONiC NOS, Linux internals, system-level software, and network validation. You will be responsible for designing, validating, and optimizing next-generation network platforms while collaborating across hardware, software, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities & Required Skills: 8+ years of experience in network systems development, including system-level software. Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with SONiC NOS , including deep understanding of its architecture and operations. Lead design, development, and troubleshooting of SONiC NOS-based network solutions. Proficiency in C/C++ development; Python scripting is an advantage. Experience with Docker environments for building, debugging, and optimizing containerized applications. Perform comprehensive system-level debugging within Linux environments , requiring a strong understanding of Linux internals. Execute network validation using PTF and SpyTest frameworks to ensure platform stability and performance. Collaborate with hardware, ASIC, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration. Familiarity with network ASICs , switch hardware design, and hardware-software interaction. Preferred Qualifications: Exposure to production-grade SONiC deployments. Contributions to open-source SONiC or related networking projects. Solid understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols and security best practices.
