Solution Architect

What will your essential responsibilities include

• Responsible for defining the overall solution design of a project, covering all layers of the architecture: business, information, and technical.
• Maintain an up-to-date view of the vendor market with a proven track record for delivering solutions.
• Support the product selection process and help ensure product selection is architecturally cohesive with the Enterprise Architecture roadmap.
• Contribute to the development of Hybrid Cloud Strategy by using knowledge of current and future public and private cloud technologies that benefit AXA XL's needs.
• Identify research opportunities aligned with business and IT strategy to propose innovative solutions that efficiently deliver project requirements.
• Clearly articulate risks and issues associated with various solution options.
• Act as the design authority for assigned projects and programs throughout implementation, in alignment with architecture governance.
• Draw upon expertise from domain specialists (e.g., technical, enterprise, infrastructure architects) to ensure coherence and integrity of the overall solution.
• Collaborate with Project Management during vendor selection to ensure architectural compliance of selected products.
• Work with Enterprise Architecture on defining, designing, and delivering technology roadmaps and guidelines.
• Manage architecture exceptions within the portfolio, including identification, documentation, exception approval process, and remediation where possible.
• Document high-level designs for all approved and delivered change requests.
• Review and approve detailed designs to ensure they meet the intent of the overall solution.
• Assist the business in defining non-functional requirements, including operational support needs.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Degree or professional qualifications with experience in Solution Design or Solution Architecture.
• Excellent communication skills; capable of explaining and presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable making decisions, providing recommendations, and being accountable for outcomes.
• Broad knowledge of a range of technologies with an enthusiasm for Emerging Technologies and innovation.
• Ability to define Solution Architecture involving multiple products and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale Azure implementations, including application migration.
• Experience with containers and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions and effectively communicating with senior stakeholders.
• Sound business and technology knowledge, with commercial awareness and understanding of Financial Services (Insurance industry experience preferred).
• Background in both business and technology across the delivery lifecycle (e.g., solution design, roadmaps, governance, analysis).
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple business units and with outsourced development partners.
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and self-motivation.
• Effective problem-solving skills and ability to create actionable plans quickly.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and active use of industry frameworks and tools such as TOGAF, Abacus, etc.
