SR RD/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER Job Overview TE Connectivitys RD/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp The RD/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems Responsibilities Development of next generation opto-electronic products. Activities may include: Serve as liaison between Business Development, Marketing, Sales, Procurement, Manufacturing, contract design teams, customers, suppliers, and various other Engineering functions Drive field application engineering and work closely with customers to understand the new requirements. Capture VOC and establish the baseline requirements Define product architecture, design of electrical circuit and optoelectronic component selection Prototype development and evaluation new technologies used for Smart Relays, Power distribution units and protocol converters Definition and/or Development of test systems for opto-electronic products Definition and coordination of test programs for purposes of design verification and product qualification Generation of product drawings, application specifications, and instruction sheets Implementation of design changes to enhance product quality, improve manufacturability, and/or reduce manufacturing cost Review functional/performance specifications provided by customers and ensure that product requirements have been properly defined and documented prior to production. Perform/coordinate failure analysis work and determine corrective actions Initiation of Engineering Changes to improve designs, improve manufacturing, or respond to changes requested by the customer Achieve scope, schedule, and budget requirements Report out on project status as needed Meet all established project deadlines Regularly keep management informed of problems, issues, and status of on-going projects. Work with local and global counterpart / stake holder for ensuring quality deliverable and project execution. Work closely with third party vendor / supplier to define the technical requirements for the product and project execution. Mentor the new team members on design and development of opto-electronics products. Education and Knowledge BE/BTech with specialization in Electronics Communications Engineering Min 8 years of experience in Electronics board design and development for optical fiber applications preferably for RF frequencies (RFoF designs) Critical Experience Electronics hardware design for ruggedized electronics used in aerospace, space, Defence, marine, EV, and industrial applications Experience with power supply design, power switching modules and distribution units Well versed with power supply topologies and high-power design for power supplies, motor drives (BLDC, PMSM) and power distribution control Experience with digital electronics circuit design using microcontroller and FPGA Experience with standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, logic analyzers, signal/spectrum analyzers, etc. Experience in design for EMI/EMC and qualification testing as per standards such as DO-160, MIL-461, MIL-704, CISPR-25 and IEC Hands-on with simulation tools such as PSpice, LTspice and Matlab Good understanding about power circuits and PCB Thermal management Hands-on with design using Power MOSFET, IGBT and SiC/GaN devices and power controller/management chips Familiar with power distribution architecture used in Aircraft, eVTOL/Drones, military vehicles, Electric vehicles and EVSE systems Hands-on with Integrated system design using relays, electronics, and microcontrollers for fault tolerant system applications Familiar with RF Microwave design and use of ADS, Sonnet and HFSS software will be an added advantage Familiar with software development and tools will be an added advantage Familiar with electro optics design specifically experience with optical transceivers Familiar with High-Speed RF and/or Mixed Signal hardware Circuit Schematic and PCB layout Design and analysis Experience with Ethernet, Fiber Channel, Infiniband, and Rapid I/O standards Familiar with the SMPTE and DVI/HDMI video standards and protocols like I2C and SPI Awareness about Airborne SW and HW design guidelines per DO-178 and DO-254 Competencies Values: Integrity, Accountability, Inclusion, Innovation, Teamwork Job Segment: Testing, Electronics Engineer, RD Engineer, Drafting, Aerospace Engineering, Technology, Engineering

Responsibilities Perform activities concerned with sustenance and life cycle management & testing of electro mechanical components / products / systems for Aerospace & Defense markets. VAVE Funnel and Execution of projects Work closely with the India and Global Engineering team in management of product for domestic and global customers by meeting timelines and providing solutions. Work closely with the cross functionals teams Keep abreast of new technologies, materials and processes and use the information to initiate cost saving or product enhancing projects. Contribute to achieving departmental targets specifically Quality, Delivery on Time targets for development and sustaining activities. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Engineering Manager. Technical signoffs for project execution and maintain of records and test reports. Recertification and qualification life cycle management Work with customer for issues, field rejects, complaints and provide technical solutions Include and not limited to work on RFQs and provide technical solutions Validate engineering aspects using simulation techniques and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements. Usage of DFSS tools during execution of projects is a mandatory requirement Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Train and develop capability of the team to be a multi-skilled resource pool. Benchmark implement productivity improvement methods & continuous improvement projects Work on New Product introductions/ NPI Usage of Problem solving methodologies for Root cause and corrective action Drive Technology and Innovation Education and Qualification BE/ B.Tech (Mechanical/ Electrical) Experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, and Tolerance Stack-ups. Proven records of DFSS tool usage in engineering analysis and solution Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating, other Metal Forming and plastic miniaturing processes. Added advantage would be good knowledge in additive manufacturing process. Experience in Materials and Product Designs involving Metals, Plastic and Sheet Metal parts. Experience in Global Certifications and Regulatory Standards (EN, MIL etc.), Specifications Knowledge of statistical process control methodology, six sigma is an advantage. Knowledge of product, design processes and methodology, testing & Qualification. Expertise on CAD & CAE tools, Optimization techniques, and testing methods Aware and can manage costing workout for the products Understanding of LEAN / 6 Sigma / Kaizen techniques. Participation in full product development cycle from establishing customer requirements to releasing qualified design to production. Knowledge in 3D CAD & CAE applications, and geometric dimensions & tolerances. Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes including stamping, molding, plating, and assembly. Experience in design for manufacturability to address customer requirements including mechanical, environmental, electrical, and cost. Experience in development of verification and validation test plans that incorporate customer application conditions. Strong interpersonal communication and knowledge of roles of the cross functional team. Deep knowledge in area of leadership and accountability. Ability to work in a global environment and availability to collaborate globally in the mornings and evenings.
