Role Summary

The Solar Design Engineer will be responsible for designing efficient solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, preparing detailed engineering documents, performing calculations and simulations, and ensuring compliance with relevant Indian and international standards. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, sales teams, and site engineers to support seamless project execution from concept through commissioning. sunworks.in

Key Responsibilities

• PV System Design & Layout

• Prepare solar PV system layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and detailed electrical designs for rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid systems. sunworks.in
  
• Perform shadow analysis and energy yield simulations using tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD. sunworks.in
  
• Optimize panel layout, string sizing, inverter selection, and BOS (Balance-of-System) configuration for performance and cost. Adz
  

• Engineering Calculations

• Conduct AC and DC side electrical calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, earthing & lightning protection). sunworks.in
  
• Prepare Bill of Materials (BoM) and technical specifications for procurement and cost estimation. sunworks.in
  

• Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with relevant Indian Standards (IS), IEC codes, utility interconnection requirements, net-metering policies, and local DISCOM norms.
  

• Site Assessment & Support

• Conduct or review data from engineering site surveys; interpret structural and electrical site conditions. sunworks.in
  
• Support project execution teams with design clarifications and troubleshooting during installation and commissioning. sunworks.in
  

• Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare technical proposals, design documents, and as-built drawings. sunworks.in
  
• Collaborate with sales teams on project proposals and scope definitions. sunworks.in
  

• Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated on new solar products, industry tools, and regulatory changes.
  

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related engineering discipline. sunworks.in
  

Experience

• Typically

  25 years

  of experience in solar PV system design and engineering (utility/ commercial/industrial).

Technical Skills
