Software Engineer - (MERN Stack) - On Contract for 4-12 Months

You will be a part of Velsera, a company that aims to revolutionize the speed of medicine by accelerating the discovery, development, and delivery of life-changing insights. Based in Boston, MA, Velsera offers software and professional services for AI-powered multimodal data harmonization and analytics, IVD development, validation, and regulatory approval, as well as clinical NGS interpretation, reporting, and adoption. In your role, you will be responsible for developing modern, responsive, and high-performance web applications using JavaScript, React (or similar), and Node.js. This will involve working on both frontend components and backend APIs to ensure seamless data flow and integration. You will collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend developers to build scalable, user-friendly features. Additionally, you will write reusable, testable, and efficient code, optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning, as well as troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems. To excel in this role, you should have a strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3, along with hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as React. A solid understanding of Node.js, Express.js, and RESTful API development is essential. Experience with handle-bars and familiarity with databases like MongoDB and PostgreSQL will be advantageous. You should also possess knowledge of responsive and adaptive design, web accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, as well as experience with Bitbucket or Git and modern CI/CD workflows. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
