Software Engineer II (Backend)

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team at Postman is essential to the ecosystem, responsible for authenticating and authorizing every user request. This team manages various user and team management features like login, signup, SSO, SCIM, RBAC, MFA, etc., overseeing top services that handle over 1 billion API calls daily. The IAM Platform team focuses on ensuring the security, reliability, performance, availability, and scalability of Postman's systems for millions of users, enabling reliable collaboration at scale. As a Software Engineer-II for the IAM platform team, you will contribute to developing secure, reliable, performant, and scalable IAM services and components. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to build APIs and products, develop foundational tools and systems, and work on research areas like role engineering and session management. Your role will involve implementing standardized formats to meet cross-functional authentication and authorization needs and approaching challenges with a creative and innovative mindset. To be a good fit for this role, you should have 3-6 years of experience in developing complex and distributed software applications at scale. Proficiency in Javascript and any server-side programming language, a deep understanding of web fundamentals, web application development lifecycle, microservices architecture, and database fundamentals is required. You should be self-motivated, take ownership of assignments, enjoy learning, and sharing knowledge within and across teams. Nice-to-have skills include experience with NodeJS, ReactJS, IAM domain knowledge, container orchestration, CI/CD, monitoring, logging tools, and cloud infrastructure.
