As a Software Engineer II - Backend - Data Engineering at Blueshift, a venture-funded startup headquartered in San Francisco and expanding its team in Pune, India, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the development and maintenance of high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines. These pipelines are responsible for ingesting millions of user, product, and event data into our system in real-time and batch modes. In this position, you will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to create scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure that supports our core personalization and decision-making systems. Your responsibilities will include integrating with external systems and data warehouses to ensure reliable data ingestion and export. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of key components and features, from design to deployment, and enhance your skills in system design, performance optimization, and production monitoring. Working with modern technologies like Rust, Elixir, and Ruby on Rails, you will gain hands-on experience in building backend systems that operate at scale. Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for real-time and batch processing workloads. - Build and improve services for moving and transforming large volumes of data efficiently. - Develop new microservices and components to enhance data integration and platform scalability. - Integrate with third-party data warehouses and external systems for importing or exporting data. - Contribute to enhancing the performance, reliability, and observability of existing data systems. - Assist in diagnosing and resolving data-related issues reported by internal teams or customers. - Engage in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices within the team. Requirements: - Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or related fields. - 2+ years of experience as a backend engineer. - Solid understanding of CS concepts, OOP, data structures, and concurrency. - Proficiency in relational databases and SQL. - Attention to detail, curiosity, proactiveness, willingness to learn, and a sense of ownership. - Good communication and coordination skills. - Experience with public clouds like AWS/Azure/GCP and modern languages like Elixir/Rust/Golang is advantageous. - Experience with NoSQL systems such as Cassandra/ScyllaDB, ElasticSearch, and REDIS is a plus.
