What's The Role
As a Software Engineer ERP MDG, you will be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of Shell's Master Data Governance (MDG) solutions, ensuring the integrity, consistency, and quality of enterprise data across global operations. You'll work within a dynamic and collaborative environment, partnering with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize MDG processes and technologies. Your role will involve building scalable and secure solutions that support Shell's data governance strategy, leveraging SAP MDG and other enterprise platforms. You'll play a critical part in enabling data-driven decision-making by ensuring master data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with business needs. This includes integrating with upstream and downstream systems, automating workflows, and contributing to Shell's digital transformation journey.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and implement end-to-end data modeling solutions, including extensions to standard MDG data models and creation of custom models tailored to business needs.
- Develop and enhance UI models for MDG applications, including extensions of standard UIs.
- Configure and implement BRF+ workflows to support robust approval and governance processes.
- Define and implement validations and derivations using BRF+, BADIs (single and cross-entity), and Data Quality Management (DQM).
- Manage data replication processes, including web service setup, activation, and filter configuration to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
- Implement and support MDG Consolidation processes, focusing on harmonization and cleansing of master data for improved consistency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including functional leads, BASIS, security, and business stakeholders, to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Provide expertise in troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement of MDG solutions.
- Document technical designs, configuration guides, and support knowledge transfer.
What You Bring
- 58 years of overall experience, with a strong focus on SAP Master Data Governance (MDG)
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in SAP MDG Data Modeling, including both standard extensions and custom model development
- Led or contributed to at least one full-cycle Greenfield implementation in any of the MDG modules (MM/BP/EAM/FIN)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Proven expertise in UI Modeling, with a track record of enhancing and customizing standard MDG user interfaces
- Hands-on experience in BRF+ workflow design and implementation
- Deep understanding of validations and derivations, utilizing BRF+, BADIs, and Data Quality Management (DQM)
- Practical knowledge of data replication setup and configuration, including web services, IDocs, activation procedures, and filter definitions
- Solid experience in MDG Consolidation, with a focus on master data harmonization and cleansing
- Exposure to OData APIs and RAP (Restful ABAP Programming Model) is a plus
- Familiarity with integration scenarios, including S/4HANA Embedded Analytics and external systems, is preferred
- Experience working in agile environments and contributing to iterative delivery cycles is a bonus
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Self-starter mindset, capable of working independently and mentoring junior consultants
