Job Description: Techno-Commercial Manager BESS & Energy Storage Location: Coimbatore / Hybrid Experience: 5 to 12 years Industry: Renewable Energy, Battery Storage, Solar, Power Projects Reports To: CEO / Business Head - BESS Division Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and strategically minded Techno-Commercial Manager to lead our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business development efforts. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical understanding of BESS, solar PV systems, and battery technologies, combined with sharp commercial acumen and proven experience in driving business growth through government incentives, grant applications, and direct customer sales. Key Responsibilities 1. Business Development & Sales - Identify and pursue BESS opportunities across commercial, industrial, utility-scale, and rural electrification segments. - Engage with EPCs, DISCOMs, corporates, and government bodies to pitch customized solutions. - Create proposals, techno-commercial offers, and presentations tailored to client needs. - Build and manage a sales pipeline for BESS and hybrid solar+BESS projects. 2. Techno-Commercial Solutioning - Work with engineering and product teams to define technical configurations for BESS systems (30kWh-MWh scale). - Optimize solutions for lifecycle cost, performance, and regulatory requirements. - Provide inputs on component selection (cells, PCS, EMS, thermal systems). 3. Government Grants & Policy Navigation - Lead applications for government schemes such as PLI, Viability Gap Funding (VGF), PM-KUSUM, and state-level tenders. - Liaise with MNRE, SECI, and state nodal agencies for approvals and submissions. - Track and interpret energy policy developments to shape business strategy. 4. Strategic Partnerships - Explore partnerships with EPCs, energy consultants, system integrators, and financiers. - Support the CEO in joint ventures and investor discussions where technical understanding is critical. 5. Cross-functional Collaboration - Collaborate with R&D, procurement, legal, and marketing teams to ensure smooth execution from bid to commissioning. Candidate Profile Must-Haves - Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical / Energy / Mechanical); MBA is a strong plus. - 5 to12 years of experience in Solar, BESS, Power, or Renewable Energy sectors. - Sound understanding of battery technologies (LFP, NMC, Sodium-ion), inverters, EMS, etc. - Proven record of business development or government engagement in the energy sector. - Excellent communication and presentation skills. Good-to-Have - Experience with rural/off-grid BESS projects or international projects. - Network in the energy ecosystem: EPCs, policy makers, utilities, and developers. - Exposure to tendering processes, DISCOM engagement, and grid integration topics.
