Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Job Summary: A Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment. The role requires technical knowledge, precision, and the ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and engineering drawings. --- Key Responsibilities: Read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Assemble, fit, and install mechanical components and systems. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of machines. Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on equipment. Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and measuring instruments. Ensure all work is completed in line with safety standards and company procedures. Align, adjust, and calibrate machinery for optimal performance. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other trades to complete projects. Maintain accurate service and maintenance records. Adhere to workplace health & safety (HSE) regulations. --- Skills & Competencies: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Skilled in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges). Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good physical stamina and manual dexterity. --- Qualifications & Experience: Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or related trade. Apprenticeship or vocational training as a Fitter/Turner preferred. Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter in manufacturing, construction, mining, or heavy industry. Familiarity with HSE practices and procedures. --- Work Environment: Workshop, construction sites, manufacturing plants, or industrial facilities. May require shift work, overtime, or working in confined spaces/heights depending on the job.
