As part of our expansion and commitment to excellence, we are looking to recruit a dedicated Vitreo-Retina Surgeon to join our team of eye care professionals. Position Overview : We are looking for a qualified Vitreo-Retina Surgeon who can independently manage medical and surgical retina cases while also contributing to comprehensive ophthalmic care, including phacoemulsification (phaco) cataract surgeries. This opportunity is ideal for retina fellows who have recently completed their training or those with 1–2 years of clinical and surgical experience in a retina setup and are seeking to grow under supportive mentorship and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities : Conduct detailed diagnosis and management of retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, macular holes, retinal detachment, CNVM, and other vitreoretinal disorders. Perform and interpret essential investigations including FFA, OCT, B-scan, and OCT-A. Perform retina laser procedures (e.g., PRP, focal laser), intravitreal injections (anti-VEGF, steroids), and complex vitreo-retinal surgeries (pars plana vitrectomy, membrane peeling, tamponade, etc.). Independently handle phacoemulsification cataract surgeries in appropriate cases. Assist in retina camps, outreach programs, and early detection camps in rural areas. Work collaboratively with retina counselors, optometrists, the OT team, and general ophthalmology consultants for comprehensive care. Contribute to academic activities including case presentations, internal CMEs, and training of juniors or fellows. Required Qualifications : MS in Ophthalmology from a recognized institution. Fellowship in Vitreo-Retina from a reputed center is essential. Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in retina procedures is preferred. Phacoemulsification experience is required — must be able to handle routine cataract surgeries independently. Knowledge of EMR systems and ability to work in a structured patient flow environment. Freshers Welcome : Recently completed retina fellows with good surgical hands and interest in growing under mentorship are strongly encouraged to apply. Job Opening: Cataract/Retina Counselor Location: Siliguri Lions Netralaya, Siliguri Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Retina Services Salary: Negotiable (Based on Experiance) About the Role : Siliguri Lions Netralaya is seeking a compassionate and articulate Cataract/Retina Counselor to join our team. You will be a vital bridge between the retina care team and patients, ensuring patients are informed, reassured, and guided through every stage of diagnosis, treatment, and surgery. Key Responsibilities : Educate patients and attendants about retina conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration. Clearly explain test results, treatment plans, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes. Coordinate retina investigations including FFA, OCT, B-scan, and surgeries. Obtain and explain informed consent for retina procedures. Counsel patients before and after surgery, ensuring proper understanding of post-op care and follow-up. Maintain accurate records and assist in patient education via brochures, seminars, and videos. Support patients with treatment packages or insurance-related queries. Ensure consistent follow-up for treatments and appointments. Qualifications & Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Social Work, or similar. Diploma in Counseling or Healthcare Management is a plus. Experience: Minimum 1 year in a healthcare or eye care setup; retina experience preferred. Fluent in English, Hindi, Bengali & Nepali. Empathetic communication skills and the ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations. Proficiency in basic computer usage (Excel, EMR systems). Preferred Qualities: Prior experience in an eye hospital, especially retina department. Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology and consent procedures.
