Canadian company looking for a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in designing API 16D compliant BOP control units . This role includes responsibility for engineering design, compliance verification, documentation, and support of certification activities required to achieve and maintain API 16D approval . Key Responsibilities: Design mechanical systems for BOP control units in compliance with API 16D and related standards. Develop and maintain accurate engineering drawings, 3D models (CAD), and BOMs aligned with API 16D technical requirements. Ensure proper component selection (e.g., regulators, valves, accumulators, hydraulic manifolds) based on pressure ratings, redundancy, and fail-safe requirements. Collaborate with internal teams to prepare and maintain: Design and performance documentation for certification, Material traceability records , Pressure testing and validation protocols , Welding procedure specifications (WPS) and quality control plans. Work closely with the quality assurance team to support API 16D audits , inspections, and third-party certifications . Create and update design dossiers and compliance checklists required for API 16D documentation packages. Conduct FMEA, DFMEA , and risk assessments per certification and safety protocols. Lead or assist in FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and pressure testing per API 16D. Maintain a strong working knowledge of API Monogram program expectations and ensure designs are audit-ready. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in oilfield equipment design, preferably with BOP control systems (API 16D) or other well control equipment (API 6A, API 16C, API 16A). Deep understanding of API 16D , and familiarity with ASME BPVC , API Q1 , ISO 9001 , and other applicable codes . Excellent Skills in SolidWorks , AutoCAD, or similar 3D design software. Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems design , testing procedures, and pressure safety systems. Strong documentation and communication skills to meet traceability and design verification requirements. Understanding of quality management systems , material certification (MTC) , and pressure equipment directives. Preferred: Prior involvement in successfully certifying a system under API 16D or managing monogram documentation. Exposure to API 6A, 16C, or 17D standards is a plus. We are a Canadian–Tunisian company seeking a remote, part-time Senior Quality Engineer or Quality Manager with strong experience in implementing API Q1 Quality Management Systems and API 16D certification (BOP control units). The goal is to guide and support our Tunisia-based workshop in achieving its first-time API Q1 registration and API 16D Monogram license . Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of API Q1-compliant Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, procedures, and internal controls. Oversee the API 16D certification roadmap , ensuring alignment with technical requirements, documentation, and audit readiness. Support the preparation of quality documentation including Quality Manual, Quality Plans, ITPs, Control of Non-Conformities, CAPA, and internal audit programs. Assist and guide engineering and production teams in creating compliant design files, pressure testing records, welding procedures (WPS/PQR) , and component traceability documentation per API 16D. Review or help prepare Design Dossiers and API 16D Monogram documentation , including product specification, FAT protocols, and risk assessments. Coordinate and prepare the team for API audits and Monogram inspections , including mock audits and gap analyses. Advise on vendor qualification, material certification (MTRs), and pressure-rated equipment compliance. Provide mentorship and remote support to Tunisia-based teams to meet QMS and API Monogram requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering. 5+ years of experience in oilfield equipment quality or certification roles, including direct involvement with API Q1 or API 16D projects . In-depth understanding of API Q1, API 16D , and related standards (e.g., API Monogram Program, ASME BPVC, ISO 9001). Proven ability to lead or support initial certification processes (API Q1 & API 16D). Strong skills in documentation control , QMS setup, audit preparation, and compliance verification. Excellent communication skills in English (French is a plus). Prior experience with BOP control units, hydraulic systems, or well control equipment is a strong advantage. Preferred: Experience working with API Monogram License applications , especially API 16D. Familiarity with other standards like API 6A, 16C, or 17D is beneficial.
