The Concept Artist at The Cirqus works collaboratively as part of a team to create CG and traditional artwork that aligns with the specific design or look of a show. The main responsibilities of this role include exceptional drawing skills in both traditional and digital formats, experience in creating environments, hard surface, creature and character designs, and matte paintings. A strong background in traditional art skills is essential, along with a solid understanding of fundamental artistic principles such as three-dimensional space, composition, perspective, proportion, scale, value, depth, and color theory. Furthermore, the Concept Artist must ensure that their work aligns with the specifications outlined by the Director or Creative team of a show. They should possess the ability to gather research and reference material that will be influential to clients and the design team. Additionally, the role requires the capability to work both independently and within a production environment, along with demonstrating strong artistic interpretation skills. The Concept Artist will also be responsible for assisting with project clean-up and archiving on an ongoing basis. Requirements for this role include a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and significant experience in producing concept art for VFX, feature films, and games. Proficiency in design software like Photoshop and Sketchup is a necessity. Candidates should also have experience or knowledge of storyboarding, cinematic techniques, language, and shot composition.
