Description
As a Fabricator at Wipaire, you will be an integral part of the aircraft float fabrication process. Your responsibilities will include: - Performing simple fabrication and assemblies of aircraft floats under the guidance of experienced fabricators. - Forming material to match blueprint specifications or sample parts, following instructions. - Operating equipment and utilizing common hand tools to manufacture and assemble parts. - Inspecting all parts for cleanliness and defects. - Keeping the Production Supervisor informed of work status, workload, problems, and progress related to work assignments. - Recording time in ERP software and signing off work orders for each process of assembly. - Following procedures that support compliance with FAA regulations. If you are hired as or promoted to a Senior Fabricator, you will have additional duties such as: - Selecting appropriate raw materials and prefabricated parts to perform moderately complex fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts and assemblies. - Verifying conformance to industry and Company standards and providing feedback to lesser experienced workers. - Interpreting specifications, drawings, and/or sample parts to determine machine adjustments and material processing requirements. - Inspecting all parts and assemblies for cleanliness and conformity. - Maintaining traceability of material and parts issued to jobs, returning unused material through proper procedures. - Following engineering drawings and specifications to install, connect, or bond aircraft parts using adhesives, rivets, or threaded fasteners. - Preparing and using jigs or fixtures to aid in locating, bonding, or drilling aircraft parts. Qualifications required for all levels include: - High school diploma or GED preferred. Senior level: 1-year technical diploma or equivalent preferred. - Prior experience in assembly and fabrication preferred. Senior level: Three years minimum related experience in assembly and fabrication strongly preferred. - Proficiency in working with hand tools and common metal shop tasks. - Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. - Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools, including files, hammers, snips, power tools such as sanders, drills, riveters, and grinders. - Effective communication skills in the English language, including oral and written instructions. - Ability to move around the plant area repeatedly throughout the day and perform various physical tasks.
