As an Operational Safety Improvement Engineer at Bradken, you will play a key role in fostering a safety-first culture within the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the implementation of initiatives focused on operations, process safety enhancements, and inherent safety. This will involve advanced training, introduction of new safety technologies, and application of industry best practices. You will be responsible for managing Contractor Safety Management, work permits, Safety Interactions, Planned Task Observations, and Stop and Think initiatives. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you conduct comprehensive risk assessments, regularly review and update Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and develop action plans to ensure 100% compliance with safety codes of practice. Reporting to the Safety & Sustainability Manager-SSE Asia, you will collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance with Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) requirements. Your proactive and analytical mindset will be evident in your involvement in ICAM investigations, reviewing past corrective actions, and driving enhancements to safety protocols. Your role will also involve addressing day-to-day site SHE matters, providing guidance on legislative compliance, implementing Bradken's SHE policies, managing site hazards, and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement. Prior work experience in the heavy engineering industry is mandatory, with experience in the Foundry/Metal industry considered an advantage. In terms of technical criteria, you should hold a Degree/Diploma in Science, Engineering, or Manufacturing with safety qualifications as per Tamil Nadu Safety Officers Rules, 2005 or NEBOSH IGC. Experience in system audits, safety inspections, driving SHE culture, leading teams, HIRA, Aspect-Impact registers, developing SOPs, and executing improvement initiatives will be beneficial.
