Senior Test Lead

Job Summary:

The Senior Test Lead will be responsible for leading end-to-end quality assurance activities across web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and backend systems. This role involves defining test strategies, managing QA teams, driving automation initiatives, ensuring security and performance compliance, and collaborating closely with business, development, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Web, Mobile, API, Automation, Security, and DB Testing.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools (Selenium/Appium/Cypress).
• Proficiency in API testing and backend validation using Postman tool.
• Good knowledge of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Soft Skills

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB / CSTE or equivalent QA certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Test Strategy & Planning

• Define and implement comprehensive QA test strategies aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Prepare test plans, test estimates, schedules, and resource allocation for multiple projects.

2. Web Application Testing

• Lead functional, regression, and cross-browser testing of web applications.
• Validate UI/UX, usability, accessibility, and compatibility across browsers and devices.
• Ensure correctness of alerts, messages, workflows, and business rules.
• Collaborate with UI/UX teams to validate design consistency and user experience.

3. Mobile Application Testing

• Manage testing of Android and iOS applications.
• Perform functional, compatibility, usability, and device testing.
• Validate app performance under varying network conditions.
• Ensure compliance with app store guidelines and mobile security standards.

4. API Testing

• Lead API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar.
• Validate REST/SOAP APIs for request/response accuracy, data integrity, and error handling.

5. Automation Testing

• Drive the automation testing strategy and framework selection.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, etc.
• Identify suitable test cases for automation and ensure optimal ROI.
• Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

6. Security Testing

• Ensure applications comply with security best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Perform vulnerability assessments using tools like OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, or similar.
• Validate authentication, authorization, data protection, and session management.
• Collaborate with security teams to address identified vulnerabilities.

7. Database Testing

• Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across databases.
• Perform backend testing using SQL queries on databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and retention policies.

8. Defect Management & Reporting

• Own defect lifecycle management using tools like JIRA, Azure DevOps, Asana and Bugzilla.
• Ensure clear defect reporting with proper severity, priority, and reproduction steps.
• Track defect metrics and ensure timely resolution.
• Provide regular QA status reports to stakeholders.

9. Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Lead and mentor QA engineers and automation testers.
• Conduct reviews of test cases, scripts, and test execution.
• Define QA best practices and standards.
• Support skill development and continuous improvement within the QA team.

10. Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

• Act as the primary QA point of contact for business, development, and product teams.
• Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, and release readiness discussions.
• Provide risk assessments and go/no-go recommendations for releases.
