Senior Structural Engineer - Offshore

We are hiring for Senior structural engineer - Offshore

Location - Chennai

Key responsibilities

1. Demonstrate strong commitment to health, safety and environmental requirements and ensure HSE considerations are embedded in all design activities.
2. Execute structural engineering through all phases (Concept, FEED, Studies and Detailed Design) for offshore structures and modules.
3. Perform and/or review global and local analyses (in-place, fatigue, pre?service, transportation, lifting, load?out and installation) using industry-standard software (e.g. SACS, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS).
4. Prepare, check and approve design documents and drawings including calculation reports, design notes, 3D model inputs, and construction drawings, ensuring compliance with codes and project requirements.
5. Ensure structural engineering integrity for assigned areas, including proper load assumptions, detailing, and interfaces with other disciplines.
6. Identify scope, man?hour and schedule deviations and raise change notifications in accordance with project change management procedures.
7. Review and validate Material Take?Offs (MTOs), material specifications and requisitions for structural steel and associated items.
8. Prepare technical specifications, perform technical bid evaluations and review vendor documents for structural items and packages.
9. Coordinate with piping, mechanical, naval, electrical, process, layout and construction teams to resolve clashes and ensure buildable, cost?effective solutions.
10. Participate in model reviews, design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP/constructability sessions and client meetings as required.
11. Provide technical support to fabrication, installation and site teams, including response to site queries and resolution of non?conformances.
12. Contribute structural inputs to bids and proposals, including preliminary design, weight estimates and man?hour assessments.
13. Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensure proper checking procedures, and maintain required technical quality and traceability of deliverables.

Education and qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSc/BTech); Master's degree (MSc/MTech) in Structural/Offshore Engineering is an advantage.
• 69 years (or more, as needed) of structural engineering experience in offshore oil and gas facilities, jackets, topsides or drilling rigs with a construction yard, EPC contractor or consultant.
• Good knowledge of international design codes and standards: API, AISC, ASME, ASTM, BS/EN and relevant class/flag and aviation rules (ABS, DNV, BV, CAP 437, etc.).
