Your Team, Your Impact

The Switch Software Quality Assurance Team is responsible for validating the Marvell switch platform, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability across multiple SDK and NOS solutions.Key Responsibilities:End-to-End Testing: Designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans covering both hardware and software components of the ASIC.Protocol & Feature Coverage: Validating networking features across layers L1-L7, including switch software, protocols, and advanced data center use cases.Automation Development: Building scalable test automation frameworks and in Python and accelerate QA cycles and improve coverage.Customer Use Cases: Developing and automating tests that replicate real-world customer deployments and cross-switch functionalities.Collaboration & Support: Working closely with Development, Applications, and Marketing teams to ensure quality deliverables and provide technical support when needed.Continuous Improvement: Driving innovation in testing methodologies, automation efficiency, and lab utilization to ensure best-in-class product validation.

What You Can Expect

  • Develop test strategies for the product features.

  • Develop test processes and ensure the processes are followed.

  • Be on top of developments in the storage technology and implement state of the art testing techniques and methodologies.

  • Develop test cases according to test strategy.

  • Review test results and bug reports for accuracy and completeness.

  • Execute test cases and document test results in qTest.

  • Develop test automation using Python.

  • Measure and improve the code coverage through test improvement.

  • Report bugs in Jira with thorough documentation, test logs and traces.

  • Develop test scripts for testing firmware on simulation platform.

  • Understand protocols and firmware design to develop effective test cases.

  • Participate in peer code reviews and test plans.

  • Collaborate with firmware developers, applications engineers and FAEs in debugging.

  • Mentoring and training.

What We're Looking For

Technical Expertise - Switching and Networking

  • Strong understanding of switch Layers (L1-L4) networking

  • Experience with Ethernet switching architectures, packet forwarding, and network ASIC pipelines.

Software and Test Frameworks

  • Proficiency in Python for test automation (Pytest, Robot Framework, etc.).

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub CI, or similar) and test automation integration.

  • Familiarity with traffic generation tools (IXIA, Spirent, TRex, Scapy).

  • Knowledge of Linux environments, shell scripting, and low-level debugging.

  • Experience with source control (Git) and issue tracking systems (Jira, etc.).

  • Experience with switch SDKs (low-level deriver)

  • SAI (Switch Abstraction Interface) - advantage

  • Exposure to hardware abstraction layers and SDK-to-driver interactions.

QA and Testing Skills

  • Proven experience in test strategy, test plan design, and coverage analysis for SDK-level or embedded systems.

  • Expertise in functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.

  • Familiarity with SDK API validation, packet verification, and traffic-based test automation.

  • Understanding of release qualification processes for network devices.

  • Ability to define and track quality metrics (e.g., defect density, coverage, pass rate trends).

  • Experience leading or managing QA teams (5-10 engineers ideally).

  • Ability to mentor engineers, define priorities, and align with development and release goals.

  • Skilled at balancing manual and automated testing efforts.

  • Strong cross-functional communication with development, validation, and release teams.

  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating QA engineers.

  • Capable of setting clear KPIs and goals for team members.

  • Good project management skills - task tracking, sprint planning, risk management.

Strategic & Process-Oriented Skills

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Ability to define and improve QA processes and standards.

  • Experience integrating QA into CI/CD workflows and continuous quality monitoring.

  • Understanding of test coverage analysis tools and defect trend analysis.

  • Capability to collaborate with SDK architects to understand feature impacts and plan validation accordingly.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication - able to document test plans, results, and strategy clearly.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving.

  • Comfortable working in cross-site / multi-timezone teams.

Advantage

  • Experience with SAI/SONiC

  • Understanding of network operating systems (e.g., SONiC, Cumulus, or similar).

  • Familiarity with hardware validation labs and testbed management.

  • Exposure to hardware bring-up, firmware, or bootloader testing.

  • Prior experience working in semiconductor or network equipment vendors.
