Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled
Senior SQL Server & Azure Database Administrator
to manage, optimize, and secure SQL Server and Azure SQL environments. The role requires expertise in database performance tuning, disaster recovery, automation, and cloud migration. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, scalability, and compliance while supporting enterprise applications and data initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases (2008R22022) and Azure SQL environments.
- Perform database upgrades, migrations, backups, restores, and patching.
- Monitor performance and implement tuning strategies for high availability and scalability.
- Design and implement disaster recovery solutions using Always On, Log Shipping, SQL Replication, and Geo-Replication.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and Azure automation tools.
- Collaborate with development teams to support SSIS, SSRS, and SQL-based applications.
- Ensure database security, compliance, and access control across environments.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to connectivity, performance, and data integrity.
- Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure reviews.
- Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.
Years Of Experience
- 4 to 8 years of proven experience as a SQL Server and Azure Database Administrator.
Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Microsoft SQL Server or Azure-related certifications preferred.
Skill Set Required
Must have:
- Strong experience in SQL Server Administration (2008R22022).
- Expertise in Azure SQL Services: Managed Instance, PaaS DBs.
- Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Hands-on with backup/restore strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Geo-Replication.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell and T-SQL.
- Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
Nice To Have
- Familiarity with cloud migration tools and hybrid environments.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks.
- Exposure to infrastructure automation and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
