Job Description

**Role Overview:** As a member of the dialysis health care team at Fresenius Medical Care North America, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Your role will involve setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a clean working environment, and supporting the organization's commitment to quality enhancement and continuous quality improvement activities. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist in providing patient-specific education on measures such as Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), and Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM). - Welcome and inquire about the well-being of assigned patients before treatment. - Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated. - Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, monitor patient response, and evaluate intradialytic problems. - Obtain vital signs, weight, and perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment. - Discontinue dialysis treatment, evaluate the patient prior to discharge, and apply appropriate dressings. - Record accurate treatment information, including vital signs and parameters, onto the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet. - Ensure safety alarms are enabled and perform machine safety checks according to facility policy. - Assist in training new clinical staff and provide ongoing training to direct patient care personnel. - Collaborate with the Clinical Manager and Education Coordinator to drive organization quality standards through education and training. - Maintain environmental integrity and cleanliness, including disinfecting machine surfaces and equipment. - Complete and document participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities and enter treatment data accurately. - Assist with infection control audits and reinforce adherence to infection control practices. - Follow newly admitted patients through their first 4 weeks of dialysis and coordinate transitional care. - Assist with supply ordering and inventory for the Transitional Care Unit. **Qualifications Required:** - High School diploma or G.E.D. required, Bachelor's degree preferred. - Valid PCT national certification or state-specific certification as defined by Center for Medicaid/Medicare (CMS). - Demonstrated commitment to organizational culture, values, and customer service standards. - At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred. - Successful completion of the organization's dialysis training program and CPR certification required. *Note: Fresenius Medical Care North America maintains a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.* **Role Overview:** As a member of the dialysis health care team at Fresenius Medical Care North America, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
