Job Description

As a member of the dialysis healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Your duties will include setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a clean working environment, and ensuring compliance with organization policies and regulations. You will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to enhance patient satisfaction and achieve quality enhancement goals. Your responsibilities will involve patient-related tasks such as educating patients on adequacy measures, evaluating vascular access, administering heparin, monitoring vital signs, and initiating dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders. You will be expected to evaluate intradialytic problems, monitor patient response to therapy, and document accurate information related to patient treatment. In addition to patient care, you will also be involved in staff-related activities such as participating in recruitment processes, assisting with clinical orientation and training, and delivering ongoing competency evaluations to ensure high performance standards. You will collaborate with the Clinical Manager and Education Coordinator to drive quality standards through education on ESRD regulatory requirements and Continuous Quality Improvement practices. Your role will also require you to maintain accurate records of patient treatment data, participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities, and ensure adherence to infection control practices within the facility. You will be responsible for providing transitional care to newly admitted patients, coordinating their dialysis care, and educating them on treatment options. As part of the job requirements, you must possess a High School diploma or G.E.D., with a Bachelor's degree preferred. A valid PCT national certification or state-specific certification is required, along with a demonstrated commitment to organizational values and customer service standards. Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting is preferred, and successful completion of the organization's dialysis training program and CPR certification is necessary for continued employment. This position involves physical demands such as heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and interaction with patients and facility staff. You may also be required to travel between assigned facilities and participate in regional meetings. The work environment includes exposure to infectious diseases and moderate noise levels typical of a healthcare facility.
