Senior Design Engineer

As a Full-Time Engineer at Lincoln Electric in Chennai, your role will involve developing and simulating robotic paths using ABB Robot Studio and Robo Guide, and validating them for real-world deployment. Your strong foundation in mechanical design principles, experience in tooling and fixture development, and understanding of welding systems and automation products will be crucial for this position. Key Responsibilities: - Design and simulate complete robotic work cells using Visual Components - Perform layout planning, material flow analysis, and cycle time analysis - Conduct virtual troubleshooting and optimization of robotic systems - Integrate robotic systems with PLC-based automation - Write and debug ladder logic - Develop custom software tools or scripts using languages such as Python, C#, or Java Qualifications Required: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field - Solid understanding of design principles and expertise in creating tooling and fixtures for welding applications - Hands-on experience with ABB Robot Studio, Robo Guide, and Visual Components - Proficiency in PLC programming, especially ladder logic - Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java, or C++) - Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and software development kits Your success in this role will be enhanced by experience in digital twin simulations, virtual commissioning, robot kinematics, path optimization, and cycle time reduction. Exposure to vision systems, laser scanner systems, safety systems, HMI development, and other automation environments will be advantageous.
