Role & responsibilities We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer cum Supervisor to lead our sustenance engineering efforts for existing Pneumatic/Hydraulic Rack & Pinion or Scotch Yoke Actuators. This role focuses on optimizing current product designs, resolving field issues, improving manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring continued product reliability and performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fluid power systems, a proven track record in problem-solving and design improvement, and excellent supervisory skills. Develop and implement design modifications to enhance product reliability, performance, and manufacturability. Create and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for existing and modified designs. Perform design calculations, simulations (FEA, CFD), and tolerance stack-up analysis to validate design changes. Develop and implement engineering change orders (ECOs) to document and control design modifications. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure smooth implementation of design changes. Conduct product testing and validation to ensure compliance with performance and reliability requirements. Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical design engineers and technicians focused on sustenance engineering for fluid power actuation products Assign tasks, prioritize projects, and monitor progress to ensure timely resolution of field issues and implementation of design improvements. Provide technical guidance and support to team members, resolving technical challenges and ensuring quality of work. Core Competencies Strong background in the Design of Rack & Pinion and Scotch Yoke Pneumatic, Hydraulic Actuators and Industrial valves. • Experience in Valve Automation, schematics and troubleshooting for Rotary and Linear Actuation • Ability to analyze existing designs and identify areas for improvement in performance, reliability, and manufacturability. • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) for design modifications and optimization. • Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles. • Engineering Change Management: • Experience in developing and implementing engineering change orders (ECOs) to control design modifications. • Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers and technicians. • Strong communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills. • Ability to delegate tasks, prioritize projects, and manage team resources effectively. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
