Senior Cloud Ops Engineer

We are seeking highly skilled Senior Cloud Ops Engineers to join the Gresham Cloud Services team as a 100% individual contributor. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience to execute and deliver complex cloud infrastructure projects. You will be instrumental in maintaining and modernising our multiple cloud environments hosted across public and private clouds, primarily AWS and Azure, which support deployments of Gresham's portfolio of products.

Your hands-on expertise will be crucial in introducing and implementing newer technologies such as Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.

A deep understanding of our existing infrastructures is essential to drive improvements required by evolving application architectures. As a senior individual contributor, you will collaborate with other product teams to adopt appropriate cloud technologies for cloud-native deployments. Working closely with the Information Security team, you will ensure the highest security standards are applied.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the technical design, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support and maintenance of a diverse set of cloud technologies.
• Implement the deployment of new technologies used by our customer platforms, focusing heavily on automation, resilient design, and cloud-ready systems and services deployment.
• Collaborate with Test Engineers to validate and enhance automation processes.
• Work closely with the Information Security team to introduce, maintain, or improve the required level of security.
• Provide expert knowledge and guidance to other teams regarding cloud services and features.

What we're looking for

You will be hands-on Senior Cloud Ops Engineer who can bring both depth and breadth of expertise across cloud platforms, automation, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be confident working in complex environments, eager to take ownership, and ready to use their technical skills to make a real impact.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

• Strong Linux expertise

  Comfortable administering CentOS, Red Hat, or Ubuntu, with solid Linux scripting skills.

• Infrastructure-as-Code mastery

  Highly proficient with Terraform (especially AWS Terraforming) and Ansible, with experience using HashiCorp Packer to streamline deployments.

• Deep AWS knowledge

  Skilled in architecting, securing, and operating across a wide range of AWS services including:
• VPC, VPC Peering and Endpoints, Transit Gateway
• Elastic Load Balancing, IAM, Systems Manager
• Storage services such as S3 and EFS
• Application services such as Lambda, AppStream, and Transfer Family (SFTP)
• Database services including Aurora (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Multi-AZ deployments)

• Programming & scripting abilities

  Confident in Python with an eye for automation; working knowledge of Java is a plus.

• Network design understanding

  Strong grasp of network principles to support secure and resilient architecture.
