Senior Civil Design Engineer

• Deliver civil and structural design for new substations and refurbishment projects, including:
  Control buildings Transformer plinths Equipment foundations Cable trenches and ducts Internal roads, fences, drainage, and external works
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, design reports, and calculations.
  
• Ensure compliance with British Standards, Eurocodes, CDM regulations, and DNO/TO specifications (e.g., National Grid TS).
  
• Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to support design development.
  
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated substation designs.
  
• Provide technical input during tendering, construction, and commissioning phases.
  
• Support planning submissions, including the preparation of environmental and geotechnical documentation.
  
• Ensure all designs are produced in line with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
  
• Contribute to value engineering, design innovation, and cost optimization.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  
• Proven experience in substation civil design, ideally from 33kV to 400kV.
  
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, and relevant UK civil engineering standards.
  
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or equivalent design software.
  
• Ability to produce detailed design calculations, specifications, and method statements.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
