Deliver civil and structural design for new substations and refurbishment projects, including: Control buildings Transformer plinths Equipment foundations Cable trenches and ducts Internal roads, fences, drainage, and external works Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, design reports, and calculations. Ensure compliance with British Standards, Eurocodes, CDM regulations, and DNO/TO specifications (e.g., National Grid TS). Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to support design development. Collaborate with electrical engineers, architects, and project managers to deliver integrated substation designs. Provide technical input during tendering, construction, and commissioning phases. Support planning submissions, including the preparation of environmental and geotechnical documentation. Ensure all designs are produced in line with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements. Contribute to value engineering, design innovation, and cost optimization. Preferred candidate profile Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent). Proven experience in substation civil design, ideally from 33kV to 400kV. Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, Eurocodes, and relevant UK civil engineering standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or equivalent design software. Ability to produce detailed design calculations, specifications, and method statements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
