As a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will play a crucial role in the Platform team dedicated to modernizing the company's delivery to clients through cutting-edge technology. You will be involved in the development of a cloud-based web interface that supports advanced analytics, complex mapping, and immersive visualization. Your responsibilities will include creating robust back-end functionality and high-performance systems using .NET/C# and cloud technologies. This role offers you the opportunity to work on a platform utilized by Mott MacDonald's largest clients worldwide and collaborate with the team to scale it. Key Responsibilities: - Enhance the performance of physical infrastructure to improve society outcomes - Handle large-scale, real-time data flows and storage, processing over 1 billion data points per day - Enhance skills across a modern technology stack and architecture Qualifications Required: - Degree in computer science or software engineering - Experience in web-based software development - Proficiency in .NET C# and modern software development - Understanding of scaling software systems with attention to detail Essential Skills And Experience Required: - Proficiency in microservice, serverless & event-driven development - Solid experience in modern .NET API development (5+ years) - Strong SQL & database design skills - Familiarity with Cloud PaaS systems in Azure & AWS - Experience with unit testing & integration testing - Ability to work in a SCRUM/agile team - Preferred experience with Kubernetes and Linux servers Soft Skills: - Strong attention to detail - Process-oriented mindset - Emphasis on building secure systems - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to conduct detailed peer code reviews Mott MacDonald supports a flexible working environment to help employees achieve work-life balance.
