Job Title: Senior Analyst – Data Engineering & Analytics

Location: Chennai

Work Type: Hybrid

Position Description:

• The candidate for the SQL Engineer/data analyst role, to have 4-5 years of experience, with knowledge on turning raw global enterprise data into reliable assets and compelling insights.
• To work collaboratively with reporting and analytics software engineers, and business stakeholders worldwide to deliver secure, scalable solutions on both on-prem and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Must have skills:

• SQL Server/Oracle/Postgres DB, ETL, Reporting & Analytics tools

Experience :

• 4–5 Years

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Data Engineering
• Design, code, and optimize complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures on Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Build dimensional models, materialized views, cursors, and data marts that power analytical and self-service use cases.
• Perform index/partition tuning and execution-plan analysis to meet stringent performance SLAs.
• Data modeling, dictionary, schemas, and data mart creation experience
• Source data (structured/unstructured) from various touchpoints, format and organize them into an analyzable format.
• Exposure to ETL tools like IICS, data stage etc., in ingesting /transforming data from sources to staging, marts and lakes.
• Designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals
• Cloud Data Integration (GCP-centric)
• Develop ingestion and transformation pipelines using Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), AlloyDB, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
• Lead or support database migrations from on-prem to GCP, ensuring data quality, lineage, and security standards are met.
• Reporting & Visualization
• Deliver interactive dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI, SAP BusinessObjects, or SSRS.
• Champion data-visualization best practices, storytelling techniques, and governance standards.
• Exposure to HR systems ERPs like HCM, extracts, BIP reporting skills 5. Agile & DevOps
• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies via Jira or Rally (user-story creation, sprint planning, retros).
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Git, DevOps, Cloud Build/Run, Tekton) for automated validation and deployment of SQL objects and BI artefacts.
• Embed security-by-design principles—RBAC, data masking, encryption —in every deliverable.
• Problem-Solving & Mentorship
• Translate ambiguous business questions into concise technical requirements and data solutions.
• Troubleshoot data anomalies and propose preventive or corrective actions.
• Provide guidance and code reviews for junior team members.

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• 4–5 years of hands-on database development or data-engineering experience.
• Advanced SQL expertise (window functions, CTEs, dynamic SQL, performance tuning) in SQL Server or Oracle.
• Practical exposure to GCP data services—minimum one project using Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) or AlloyDB.
• Proficiency in at least one enterprise reporting tool: Power BI, SAP BO, or SSRS.
• Working knowledge of Agile delivery and ALM tools (Jira, Rally, Azure Boards).
• Familiarity with DevOps fundamentals: version control, CI/CD, IaC & security controls.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and communication skills (verbal & written). Nice-to-Have
• Exposure to additional visualization tools (Qlik Sense, Tableau, Looker).
• Experience with CICD orchestration and deployment tools
• Docker/Kubernetes know-how for data-service deployments.

Industry certification:

• GCP Data Engineer, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent BI credential.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).

Skills Required:

• MSSQL, Cloud SQL, Power BI, Data Modeling, Agile Software Development

Skills Preferred:

• ETL.Informatica, Google Cloud Platform, GCP Cloud Run

Experience Required:

• Engineer II Exp: 4+ years Data Engineering  work experience

Education Required:

• Bachelor's Degree

Education Preferred:

• Certification Program
