We are currently looking for an Experienced ESD Engineer (Over 6 Years) to lead the ESD activities crucial for ensuring the long-term performance and durability of semiconductor devices manufactured at our world-class foundry located in Dholera, Gujarat. The primary objective of this role is to establish the fab's reputation for delivering highly reliable ESD products for advanced applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing various protection devices and methods to safeguard integrated circuits from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and latch-up. This position entails extensive research and development, customer support, and collaboration with different teams (process integration, PDK/Layout, and quality) to ensure the reliability and safety of semiconductor devices. Moreover, the role involves maintaining an ESD device library, Design Manual, and supporting internal and external teams, along with being accountable for Tapeout Sign off from the ESD team. Key Responsibilities: - Development and Implementation: Defining the ESD methodology for all silicon developed by DF1, specifying chip and IP level ESD requirements, designing and developing devices and methods for ESD and latch-up protection of integrated circuits, and conducting debug and failure analysis for ESD devices and related circuits. - Research and Analysis: Conducting literature surveys, performing different process and device simulations, planning experiments using statistical and computerized tools, and analyzing TCAD results based on DOE (Design of Experiment). - Design and Testing: Designing/creating ESD protection devices testing structures, performing electrical measurements, and documenting design rules in Process Design Kits (PDKs) while being proficient in PERC and PERC design rule creation. - Customer Support: Serving as the focal point for ESD and latch-up issues, providing support and consultation to internal and external customers, maintaining component qualification status for ESD protection devices used in consumer products, and managing sign-off reviews with internal design teams, external vendors, and Design houses. - Collaboration: Working with various interfaces inside and outside the organization to drive projects, ensuring successful implementation of ESD protection strategies, engaging and managing ESD deliverables from partners like contract manufacturers and engineering service providers, and traveling to EMS partner labs to support REL and validation activities (estimated 10%). Qualifications & Experience: - Educational Background: Graduate degree (Master/Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering or Physics or relevant fields, with overall experience focused on ESD/Device/Process/TCAD. - Experience: Significant experience in the VLSI field, with a deep understanding of semiconductor physics and practical engineering skills, hands-on experience in designing and characterizing ESD protection devices using design/layout EDA tools, proficiency in ESD device modeling, TLP measurement, HBM/MM/CDM, system-level ESD simulation (SEED), ESD gun air and contact discharge testing, and surge testing, and experienced user in PERC tool and creating PERC based design rule. - Technical Skills: Familiarity with international ESD standards and test methods, proficiency in semiconductor device and electrical circuit design, experience in electrical measurements and characterization. - Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical team members and stakeholders. - Problem-Solving: Innovative thinking and ability to find creative solutions to technical challenges.
