Thin Film Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the monitoring, sustaining, and hands-on support of day-to-day thin film manufacturing processes using PVD and E-beam techniques, including providing technical support to ensure process reliability; verifying process robustness with characterization of process latitudes through experimentation; improving the efficiency of deposition; developing and implementing practices or methodologies which reduce cost and improve operational efficiency; conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective action; and improving production yields via process/tool manufacturability optimization. This is a manufacturing position not a research position. Essential Functions: - Monitors, sustains, and hands-on support of day-to-day thin film manufacturing processes, programs, and activities for Cesium Iodide:Thallium Iodide scintillator deposition using various PVD tools and Aluminum deposition using EBPVD. - Troubleshooting of vacuum and deposition equipment. - Statistical characterization of data populations. - Ensures process reliability by providing technical support to operators, technicians, and other engineers. - Runs qualification of processes for manufacturing. - Improves the efficiency of deposition processes analyzing data, conducting experiments, and researching alternative methods which reduce scrap. - Designs and conducts advanced experiments to verify process robustness with characterization of process latitudes. - Develops and implements practices or methodologies which lower cost, reduce cycle time, and improve operational efficiency. - Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective action if required. - Responds to inquiries from other team members, managers, or departments. - Uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze product quality data; develops charts or reports and presents findings before groups or teams. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, OR Chemistry, Materials Science, or Physics. - 8+ years of hands-on experience working in thin film fabrication optical or semiconductor industry in manufacturing or process engineering role (preferred: Cesium Iodide:Thallium Iodide scintillator experience, Optical Thin Film coatings). - Strong experience using PVD/EBPVD and other thin film deposition techniques or processes. - Analytical skills in SEM characterization and defect/failure analysis. - Experience in deposition tool specification and development. - Experience with production software such as SAP/MES. Documentation experience with writing work instructions, verification/validation reports, and standard operating procedures. - Hands-on experience in SPC and Design of Experiments (DOE). - Hands-on experience with automated vacuum control systems from vendors such as Evatec, Balzers, Leybold, DynaVac, SCS, and Vacuum Process Technologies. - Experience working in cleanrooms with willingness to wear PAPR equipment as needed. Required Skills and Knowledge: - Proficiency in creating, reviewing, and editing relevant technical documents. - Proficient in employing the latest industry techniques and practices. - Familiar with the latest available tools or standards used in the industry to complete task(s). Key Responsibilities: - Monitor, sustain, and provide hands-on support for thin film manufacturing processes using PVD and E-beam techniques - Troubleshoot vacuum and deposition equipment - Analyze data populations statistically - Ensure process reliability by offering technical support to operators, technicians, and engineers - Qualify processes for manufacturing - Improve deposition efficiency by analyzing data, conducting experiments, and exploring alternative methods - Design and conduct experiments to verify process robustness - Develop and implement practices to reduce costs, cycle time, and enhance operational efficiency - Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as necessary - Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze product quality data - Adhere to safety policies and procedures - Perform other duties of a similar nature or level Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical, or Physics (or equivalent experience) - Eight years of hands-on experience in thin film fabrication in the optical or semiconductor industry - Strong experience with PVD/EBPVD and other thin film deposition techniques - Analytical skills in SEM characterization and defect/failure analysis - Experience with production software such as SAP/MES - Hands-on experience in SPC and Design of Experiments (DOE) - Familiarity with automated vacuum control systems from various vendors - Experience working in cleanrooms and willingness to wear PAPR equipment as needed Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications: - Proficiency in creating, reviewing, and editing technical documents - Familiarity with industry techniques and practices - Proficient in using business tools like E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP software is desired This role requires a seasoned professional with a full understanding of the specialization area. The Engineer will work on complex problems independently, exercising judgment and discretion. Interaction will involve networking with senior internal and external personnel, and the Engineer may be required to travel based on job requirements.,
