As a skilled Lathe Machine Operator, your main responsibility will be to set up and operate conventional lathe machines for various machining operations such as turning, facing, threading, and more. You will be required to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job instructions to ensure accurate machining processes. Your role will involve selecting the appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting parameters for efficient machining while maintaining tight tolerances and surface finish requirements as per specifications. In addition to operating the machines, you will also be responsible for inspecting finished parts using measuring instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges. Routine maintenance of lathe machines, ensuring cleanliness of the work area, and monitoring machine operations to detect malfunctions are essential aspects of this role. Adhering to safety practices, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any issues to the supervisor are crucial for maintaining a safe working environment. Your qualifications should include an ITI in Turner/Machinist or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering along with at least 3-5 years of experience in operating lathe machines, either manual or semi-automatic. A strong understanding of machining practices, shop floor processes, and the ability to work independently to produce quality components are necessary for this position. Basic knowledge of machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and familiarity with measuring instruments and quality standards are also key requirements. Preferred qualifications include experience in toolroom or precision machining environments, exposure to CNC lathe machines (basic understanding is a plus), and familiarity with ISO 9001, 5S, and safety protocols in machining. Teamwork, discipline, and good time management skills are valued attributes for this role. This is a full-time position that requires you to work in person at the specified location.
