The role of Senior Software Engineer at LSEG's RISK Intelligence Technology group involves designing, building, and maintaining efficient Java code based on user requirements. You will be responsible for developing high-quality software using agile methodologies and adhering to team/company standards. Your main responsibilities will include participating in planning sessions, focusing on quality through testing and peer reviews, and documenting technical reference material for supportability and reuse. You will also actively participate in team status meetings and provide timely updates to the supervisor. As a senior software engineer, you are expected to have at least 4 years of experience with excellent knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring, and Spring Boot. You should have a proven grasp of object-oriented programming, familiarity with design patterns, and experience with continuous build and integration. Knowledge of Unit Testing, Test Driven Development, databases, SQL, security implications, and secure coding is essential. Additionally, proficiency in writing clean, readable code, using source code management tools like Github, and working in a formal agile software development lifecycle is required. Experience in HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, API interfaces, multithreading, and Cloud technologies like AWS is desirable. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a knack for writing reusable Java libraries, and a commitment to personal development. While a relevant degree is desirable, equivalent experience and the right approach to work are equally valuable.
