As a Quality Engineer (QE) / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Simpplr, you will play a crucial role in ensuring quality is an integral part of the engineering process. You will work within a cross-functional product team, contributing from story grooming to release. Your responsibilities will include building test frameworks, validating assumptions early, and establishing a fast and reliable delivery pipeline. This hands-on engineering position will focus on embedding quality into every layer of the stack. Your main tasks will revolve around engineering quality across the lifecycle. You will actively participate in requirement discussions, define test strategies in collaboration with product managers and developers, and influence design and architecture with a quality-first mindset. Planning testing early and developing the necessary tools and automation for continuous validation will be key aspects of your role. Moreover, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber BDD, and JUnit or TestNG. Setting up pre-merge validations and test environments that replicate production settings, automating end-to-end flows, component-level tests, and API validations that are both fast and reliable will also fall under your responsibilities. In addition, you will leverage data to drive quality by implementing observability and building dashboards to monitor key quality indicators. Collaboration with the engineering and product teams to co-own and act on quality metrics will be essential. Continuously improving test coverage and reducing escape rates through data-backed insights will be another critical aspect of your role. Integrating with CI/CD workflows by embedding tests within GitHub workflows or Jenkins pipelines, creating fail-fast mechanisms to catch issues before deployment, and promoting modern practices like contract testing, test data versioning, and environment stability will also be part of your responsibilities. You will work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, and data teams, engaging in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and technical design discussions. Moreover, you will coach junior engineers, contributing to fostering a culture of engineering excellence within the organization. The ideal candidate for this role will have 3 to 5 years of experience in quality engineering or SDET roles, possess strong coding skills in JS, playwright, and have experience with frameworks like Cucumber BDD, JUnit, or TestNG. Hands-on experience in UI testing and tools like Postman, RestAssured, or JMeter for API testing is required. Experience in integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins, the ability to build test strategies, manage test data, and debug across the full stack are also essential qualifications. Personal attributes such as an ownership mindset with a focus on proactive problem-solving, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and comfort in working in fast-paced product environments are highly valued. Additionally, experience with performance or security testing, exposure to microservices or cloud-native testing approaches, and certifications such as ISTQB or agile quality credentials are considered bonus points.
