Description
As an SDE-3 (Backend) at Mindtickle, you will play a crucial role in contributing to the design, construction, and strengthening of the Common Components Platform. This platform powers all Mindtickle products and includes services such as Notifications, Authentication/Authorization, User & Org Management, Rule Automation (RAAS), Audit Logs, Search/Indexing, LLM Gateway, and associated platform primitives. **Responsibilities**: - Take end-to-end ownership of one or more platform services, involving design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational health. - Define and evolve service APIs/SDKs, data schemas, and migration plans. - Drive non-functional excellence by establishing performance baselines, conducting load testing, implementing caching, rate-limiting, back-pressure, retries/idempotency, and graceful degradation. - Collaborate with SRE/DevOps to develop CI/CD pipelines with progressive delivery, safe rollbacks, and infrastructure as code. - Embed security-by-design principles, including authentication/authorization, secrets management, audit trails, input validation, and privacy controls. - Lead technical discovery for new capabilities with a focus on scalability and performance. - Mentor engineers, elevate design standards, and improve documentation. - Measure and enhance key metrics such as cost per request, latency percentiles, success rate, and developer adoption. **Requirements**: - 5-8 years of backend experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years owning production services at scale. - Proficiency in Java + Spring (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of data structures, concurrency, and distributed systems. - Previous experience building and evolving multi-tenant or widely-shared services with clear APIs/SLAs. - Demonstrated ownership of non-functional requirements (NFRs) and solid CI/CD practices. - Hands-on experience with relational databases, caching, queues/streams, and event-driven patterns. - Strong understanding of security fundamentals and excellent design communication skills. **Good-to-Have**: - Experience with platformization, search/indexing, rules engines, workflow orchestration, or policy as code. - Practical experience with cost governance in shared services and LLM/AI integration. - Previous work on notifications, authentication/authorization, audit, or globalization/timezone concerns. - An engineering culture that prioritizes clarity, correctness, and predictable delivery.
